A way of staying
Listening, here, sustains the act of being.
A site-specific installation at a guest room of Eaton Hong Kong

A hotel room is a space of transience—briefly occupied, quietly emptied. We rarely think of those who came before us: their rest, exhaustion, the lives momentarily unfolding in the stillness of this space.
A way of staying offers a moment to listen, not forward, but inward.
A way of staying
For eight hours, I performed here. The sound is soft, continuous, deliberate—bells, bowls, gongs, and everyday objects shaped by the language of percussion. My practice often navigates two extremes: the unintentional rhythms of daily life, and the refined precision of virtuosic performance. This work leans toward the former, embracing slowness and subtlety, adjusting itself toward a meditative approach with mindful focus that comes with fragility and erraticness.
Hotel rooms suggest rest. This performance suggests presence. Through repetition and restraint, sound becomes a form of attention–A way of staying.
Transmitted through speakers placed around the room, the room itself now resonates. The surfaces—bed, furniture, walls—gently carry the recording, not to replicate, but to recall. What you hear is not performance, but an imprint. A way of being with what has passed, and with what remains.
